I just received my holiday photos from Erika Snow Photography and, if I could, I would sit in front of my computer all day watching a slide show of them! They came out beautifully, but I wouldn't expect anything else from Erika. She, like me, is a perfectionist. And, Erika has the most amazing style in all things. Be it clothes, business cards, or photography, she's got a knack for making things super cute.

For example, when she handed me the disc of photos it was in a fun tin case wrapped with a cheerful yellow ribbon. I loved it! Here is an example of some of her packaging:

Along with cute packaging, Erika offers top of the line products- photo books, canvas wraps, photo prints, custom frames... it's all A.MAZ.ING!! You really should check it out on her website and in person :) When I was there for my boys' holiday session I was browsing through all of her fun samples and I couldn't get over how fabulous it was in person. I mean, I was impressed just seeing pictures of the samples on her website, but in person it's even more fantastic.

Just a heads up to all of my fabulous customers... Monkey C Baby's Etsy Shop will be "on vacation" during the week of 11/21-11/27 so that I can spend time with my family and friends for the Thanksgiving holiday.

I am so thankful to all of you for being so supportive this year. I have truly enjoyed creating custom designs and expanding my knit and crochet items for baby.

Has it really been this long since I've posted? It can't be. This is nuts!

Well, here is my excuse... it's been nuts! But, a good nuts. I've had such an amazing and positive response to my newest line of knit and crochet items that my little fingers have been too busy tied up in yarn and needles that there has been no time for typing.

I'm really loving the creative process of designing and writing my own patterns for each unique piece that I create for my Monkey C Baby Etsy shop. You should stop by and check out all the new goodies!

A month or two ago I had a client contact me about a custom order. She had seen something in my shop that she was interested in, but she wanted to tweak the design a bit to fit her style. I was totally on board! Then, just the other day I received the sweetest email from her. She sent me some pictures from her daughter's newborn photo session with her Monkey C Baby Hat and Diaper Cover. I was speechless- her beautiful little baby was so precious in her little Monkey C Baby attire! So, without further ado, here is a sneak peek at what I'll be adding to the shop within the next week...

Like a Library Book... Long Overdue

I know I promised this ages ago, but here is one of two of my newest headbands. This is Monkey C Baby's Floral Headband in brights. There will be a pastels version coming soon. Isn't she gorgeous? I can just see your little princess coming home from the hospital in her floral headband, or worn in her newborn photos, or even just a little sweetness atop her head on any other day.

Ms. Flora (the headband) can be made for bigger princesses too, just leave the age of the child in the "messages to seller" portion of your order when you purchase it and checkout on Etsy.

Professionals Do It Best!

I've been taking pictures of my Monkey C Baby creations since it's inception in 2008. I used my humble little point and shoot digital camera, and didn't even take it off 'auto' for the first year or so. Then I started to get braver and smarter and more creative- I began trying to set up my pictures without the 'auto' button on the camera and I learned about lighting and cropping and scenery. I also tried some editing here and there in Photoshop to help enrich some of the colors in my photos. It helped... a little. But, if I'm honest, I was still way off the mark, plus most of the time I didn't have a model. A model always helps.

Well, I've finally learned to do it the right way... find fabulous professional photographers! My super talented friends have come to the rescue.

My two hands have been busy at work with knitting needles and crochet hooks. I have new items in my etsy shop and more on the way. I'm so excited to show you some of my new designs- they are in the hands of professional photographers and babies as we speak... well, as I type. hehe... So, I will leave it to them to share the real photographs, but for now, I'll leave you with one picture I took. This sweet hat and diaper cover duo have been very popular!

Boo! It Begins...

A little cold never stopped us... we've been under the weather around here. Thankfully, we are recovering at this point. We are hoping to be out of the woods with long nights, three in a bed, and fevers all around. Despite the sniffles we have been in good spirits because...

We've started our holiday festivities!!

Including decorating the house, eating candy, sewing up some Halloween fun, starting the creative process for the lil' monkey's Halloween costume, and even some Halloween modeling for my Etsy shop!

There is a boys version with blue "x marks the spot" stitches, and a girls version with a sweet pink bow.

The monsoon storms this weekend were the perfect relief we needed from the heat to get into the "Fall" state of mind. Hopefully the heat isn't around too much longer. We'll be spending the next few weeks reading Halloween books, watching festive movies, and making caramel apples!

Anyway, we know we like to start the holidays a little earlier. We just can't help trying to make it last a bit longer- they come and go so fast. We hope you are having fun with the season too!

Baby Shower Add-On

A few weeks ago I attended a friend's baby shower. The host called and asked if I could help a little with decorations. She mentioned doing a clothesline with little garments that matched the nursery theme of Sailboats. I told her I could come up with something in addition to the onesie and burp cloth set that I was already planning on giving the mom-to-be as a gift. After a few brainstorming sessions and lots of fun, I came up with these simple, yet sweet, little nursery wall hangings. They were a huge success at the party!

Selfless or Selfish?

This morning I designed and pieced a new quilt. I was in love with this fabric and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it when I first laid eyes on it.

It was one of those projects that was exciting and fun from start to finish. When I had the main portion pieced, I laid it out in front of me and smiled from ear to ear. I was in love with my new creation. The rest of my afternoon was spent debating whether I was going to keep it for myself and add borders to make it larger... it could have a fabulous life possibly gracing my bed or as another cuddly quilt for the family room. Oh such tough decisions!

Initially the plan was to create this beauty and sell it on Etsy to a lucky buyer- who would of course fall as madly in love with it as I have and then smile from ear to ear every time they laid it out, cuddled a sweet baby wrapped in it, or simply passed it while it adorned a spot in their home.

When my hubby came home he fell as in love with this new quilt as I had. This decision just got much harder!

In the end I decided I was so in love with this quilt that I couldn't deny another person from it as well, so it will grace the Monkey C Baby Etsy shop as soon as it is bound.

Plus, I suppose I could always make another for myself... I'm not that selfless... hehe

I am finally at liberty to reveal my fun custom order! I customized three shirts and two hats for Tyson Nash, a professional hockey player (now retired). Tyson played for some great teams, one of which was the Phoenix Coyotes!

As a retirement gift, his good friends had me add his number to shirts and hats for the teams that he played for. The final product looked awesome and I had a blast creating these one of kind pieces! Check them out and let me know what you think:)

WOW!!! Where have I been... not blogging for Monkey C Baby that's for sure! We have been busy- filling orders, changing the website, designing new onesies, and enjoying the New Year.

Things were quiet over the holidays, but we hit the ground running in 2009! The new website look will be completed by April 1, 2009 along with lots of new pictures of the great new onesies.

Last year on my birthday I was pregnant, expecting my lil' guy any day, and I was very much 'nesting'. Every inch of my house needed to be squeaky-clean and sanitary.

I'm loving my latest creation! Yesterday, I spent the afternoon sewing these adorable soft baby blocks for my lil' monkey. He just loves them to pieces (especially the tags!) and has been grabbing, teething, and rolling around with them ever since. I can't wait to sew up some more... the fun fabrics, themes, and colors are endless:) You can use organic fabrics, recycle some of your favorite fabrics around the house, and stuff them with safe and healthy fibers for your baby.

One way that we try to keep things 'green' and sustainable around the Monkey C Baby office is by designing and maintaining our own website in house. This is a lot of work, but worth the trouble to help keep things eco-friendly. However, there are repercussions to doing it all yourself...

Those of you using Firefox may be noticing that the website is looking a little disheveled. All of the links and shopping cart are in perfect working order, it's just the design of the site that needs some adjusting. I'm working very hard to quickly update everything, so that it looks wonderful!

Surprise Packages

I was without email for four days this week. I had to go to a friend's house to check my inbox. It all sent me into a slight panic. Thank goodness for computer savvy husbands:) Tim had it fixed within 30 minutes of sitting at the computer.

Due to the absence of email I wasn't able to track the shipment for my labels, so when I opened the door on Saturday to go grocery shopping I was ecstatic to see a little white box! My giddy excitement had Tim running after me through the house to see the unveiling too.

So without further delay, Monkey C Baby's product labels...

We couldn't be happier with the end result. It was worth all of the revisions and waiting. We hope you love them too! Now with our labels here, we'll be posting our fabulous photos on the website in no time!

First Mini Showing

It was a very hectic week. I was trying to get as much product completed as I could for our first mini showing! A friend of ours was hosting a casual boutique at her home on Friday afternoon. The main company showcasing was oneity children's clothing. They had very cute stuff and a great company mission.

Our display was simple and it was very exciting to get everyone's opinion about my first line of products. They were in love with it all, and very impressed by the high quality that 100% organic cotton brings to the onesies and burp cloths!

So very soon we will share it all via our website. I'm waiting for our oh-so-cute labels to be shipped and then we are ready for photos!! Speaking of photos, we are planning on working with Aubry Startin Photography and couldn't be more excited! Labor of {Love}

Just a sneek peak at our 'Juicy Fun Onesie'

A small desire to create turned into a huge labor of love within a matter of weeks. Countless hours and days have been spent creating and building Monkey C Baby. We are so excited to say that it is almost here!! We are planning to launch our designer organic baby business on June 15, 2008, and we couldn't be happier!

I've created a darling first collection of items that would make any lil' monkey goo in joy. From a rockin' guitar to a sweet little heart, we'll have it all. Monkey C Baby is providing rich-colored organic onesies in both designer and basic styles for boys and girls, as well as, matching designer organic burp cloths, organic toys, and gift certificates that can be redeemed on our website!

We'll keep everyone posted on our progress as we continue to build our online store and prepare our product for our grand opening. Thanks for all of your support and we look forward to sharing our labor of love with you!
